Every since Applied Technotopia registered at the Chamber of Commerce in Groningen we have received a steady stream of invitations and offers by mail. Most of these have been either dull or of little interest to us.
That is until yesterday when we received this little tin in the mail, which rattled when I shook it gently:
After initial thoughts on anthrax and parcel bombs where dispelled, I opened much later (I had to go out first) to reveal the following contents:
The tin contained and introductory pamphlet to an office supply company (Staples.nl) and a 25 Euro gift card.
The marketing strategy lesson learned from this interesting tin parcel is this:
- Make an impression,
- Get your target markets,
- And give them an incentive to engage.
Though this applied to the more traditional direct mail marketing approach, the same lessons can be implemented in your digital strategy and social media approach with mailing lists, unique offers for fans/ followers and give-aways like free trials, eBooks and coupon codes.
Well, I’m off to go buy some stationery. If you need advice on social media or digital strategy just contact us or add a comment.
